Jon Anderson

Jon Anderson has an M.Ed. in Physics Education from the University of Minnesota. He taught physics for 33 years at both the high school and college levels in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area before retiring in September of 2018. He also works as a consultant for the American Association of Physics Teachers (AAPT) as the PhysTEC Teacher-in-Residence (TIR) Coordinator and as the PhysicsBowl Academic Coordinator. In 2017, Jon was named an AAPT Fellow and in 2018 he was awarded the Homer L. Dodge Citation for Distinguished Service to AAPT. For over 20 years, Jon was involved in physics outreach for the University of Minnesota as a member of the “Physics Force” and as a QuarkNet Lead Teacher. He is passionate about making physics interesting and accessible to his students and to the general public. Additionally, Jon used the modeling method in his classes for 12 years and has been a modeling workshop leader for 10 years.
